Nepal Rastra Bank has directed to block all bank accounts in the name of the CPN (Maoist) until an official decision of the Election Commission or the court is reached.
Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Madhav Kumar Nepal, two chairmen of the Dahal-Nepal group of the CPN (Maoist) had issued a circular to the banks to block the bank account in the name of the Communist Party of Nepal.
On the basis of the same letter, NRB has directed to block all bank accounts. As the information came after office hours on Wednesday, NRB will give formal instructions to all the banks on Thursday.
Sources claim that the CPN (Maoist) currently has more than Rs 3 billion in cash in various banks.
