TikTok Partners with Nepal Tourism Board to Launch #VisitNepal Campaign to Boost Global Tourism
In a major push toward digital tourism and economic transformation, TikTok has officially partnered with the Government of Nepal through the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) to launch the nationwide #VisitNepal campaign.
Formally inaugurated at an event on November 6, 2026, in Kathmandu, this strategic collaboration leverages short-form video storytelling to showcase Nepal’s vibrant culture, natural landscapes, and diverse travel experiences to international audiences.
International Creators Explore Nepal’s Hidden Gems
As a core highlight of the campaign, TikTok brought nine prominent international travel content creators representing Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and South Asia to Nepal from October 30 to November 7.
These creators explored both major travel hubs—including Kathmandu and Pokhara—and lesser-known heritage spots. By documenting their firsthand experiences, local culinary encounters, and interactions with artisans, the creators shared authentic perspectives with their global followings.
Key Features of the #VisitNepal Digital Campaign
To drive engagement through the end of 2026, the NTB-TikTok initiative integrates several digital tools across the platform:
- Dedicated #VisitNepal Hashtag Hub: A centralized page aggregating travel videos to help prospective tourists discover authentic itineraries.
- TikTok Collab Integration: Joint content creation between the Nepal Tourism Board, local celebrities, and Nepali creators to highlight homegrown travel perspectives.
- Interactive Livestreams: Real-time broadcasts from popular tourist destinations, enabling virtual exploration for audiences worldwide.
- Local Enterprise Training: Extension of digital storytelling workshops that previously trained over 300 local tourism entrepreneurs and creators.
Executive Perspectives
Speaking as Chief Guest at the launch event, Nepal’s Minister for Information and Communication, Honorable Dr. Bikram Timilsina, highlighted the role of digital channels in modern destination discovery:
“Digital platforms have changed the way the world discovers destinations. Today, a story shared from one corner of the world can inspire someone in another corner to visit Nepal. We welcome TikTok not only as a platform for promoting Nepal, but as a potential long-term partner in connecting our tourism, culture, creativity, and young people with the world.”
Emir Gelen, Head of Government Relations and Public Policy for TikTok (Middle East, Eurasia, and Africa), noted:
“By partnering with the Government and the Nepal Tourism Board on #VisitNepal, we aim to showcase the country’s incredible tourism potential to global audiences. Beyond inspiring travel, this partnership reflects our broader commitment to Nepal’s socio-economic development by empowering local creators, supporting small businesses, and helping communities benefit from the digital economy.”
Socio-Economic Impact
Tourism remains a fundamental component of Nepal’s economy, supporting small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs), hospitality operators, trekking guides, and cultural artisans. By engaging international and local creators, the Nepal Tourism Board aims to expand destination awareness among younger travel demographics and drive sustainable tourism growth across the country.
