Kathmandu: 1.5 million doses given by the US government to Nepal have reached Kathmandu. The Johnson One Johnson Company, which has provided 1.5 million 34 thousand 850 doses of vaccine to Nepal through Covax, arrived in Kathmandu on Monday morning.

The vaccine was brought to Nepal on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha. At a press conference at the airport, US Ambassador Yandi Berry handed over the vaccine to Health Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha. Ambassador Berry said the vaccine was a gift to Nepal on behalf of an American citizen.

He clarified that the vaccine was not given for any selfish purpose. Speaking at a press conference, Health Minister Shrestha said that the vaccine would be given to citizens in the age group of 50-54. Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine is a single dose of vaccine.

Covishield of the Indian company and Verosel of the Chinese company, which were being given in Nepal earlier, are the two vaccines required to be given.
